CENTER OF HIS WILL CHRISTIAN FAITH CENTER STATEMENT OF BELIEF
We Believe:
- In the Holy Scripture, accepting fully the writings of the Old and New Testament as the very word of God. wholly without error as originally given of God, altogether sufficient in them as our only infallible and authoritative rule of faith and practice.
- In one Triune God. That God is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent. He is Father in Creation, Son in Redemption and Holy Ghost in His comforting, keeping and transforming power.
- That “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself’ (lI Corinthians 5:1-); that Jesus is the incarnate work, “God made flesh” (John 1:14). That Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the Unjust, as a substitutionaiy sacrifice, and all that believe in Him are justified on the ground of the shed blood. He arose from the dead as recorded in the Scriptures and is now at the fight hand of the Father as our Great High Priest to intercede on our behalf. He will come again to establish His Kingdom of righteousness and peace.
- That “God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world and received up into glory” (H Tim 3:16)
- That the angel told Joseph, “Call his name ‘Jesus’ for He shall save His people fiom their sins: (Mat 1:21), and that “There is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
- That the Holy Spirit is a divine person sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower the believer. He also is the one convicting the world of sin, righteousness and judgement.
- In water baptism by immersion which is a part of the commission as stated “Go ye into all the world and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost .
- We believe in the power of the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins
- That God originally created man in His own image, innocent, pure and holy; that his fall and banishment from the Garden of Eden was because of sin (Gen 1:27, Rom 3:23, Rom 5:12). Disobedience and unbelief resulting in spiritual and physical death broke man’s perfect relationship with God. All men are now born with a sinful nature and separated from life in God living in the cycle of sin and death and in need of salvation.
- That as “In Adam all die, so in Christ all are made alive” (1 Cor 15:22). We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. That salvation is a free gift of God, neither merited nor secured in any part by any virtue or work of man, but received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom all true believers have as a present possession , the gift of eternal life, perfect righteousness, sonship in the family of god, deliverance and security from final condemnation. Every spiritual resource needed to live a holy and godly life in this world is available to us through Jesus Christ.
- That ‘he that cometh to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek him” (Heb 11:6)
- That in order to enter the Kingdom of God, one must be ‘born of the water and of the Spirit’ (John 3:5) That when the Holy Ghost (Spirit) comes into one’s Me, he will receive power and become a witness unto God (Acts 1:8) That when man is saved he is baptized by the Spirit of God and brought to newness of life. Scripture says we are a new creation and that we are created for good works that God has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them, not as a means of salvation, but as its proper evidence and fruit. As Christians we should obey the Word of our Lord, seek the things which are above, walk as He walked and aocept our responsibility and privilege of bearing the good news of the Gospel to the lost world, remembering that a victorious and fruitful life is possible for those who make themselves available to God as an expression of gratitude for His mercy.
- That provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mortal body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are part of the ministry of the Church. Healings, miracles and speaking in other tongues as God gives utterance was not just for the disciples of Jesus’ time but is also essential for the Church World today (Acts 2:4. 10:46, 19:6).
- We believe in Holiness in character even as God is Holy. We believe for the believer, the basic law of the house or temple is Holiness (Ezekiel 46:12). Holinesss is not what you wear, put on or take off, but who You are.
- The Church consists of all those who believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ. That He is the Head of the Body (the church) and that His work is done throughout the ministries of the church based on the spiritual gifts He gives. According to Eph 4: 11, we believe that Jesus gave gifts to men (‘anthropos’ – mankind) some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers for the perfecting of the saints. We also believe that the Holy Spirit gives gifts severally to whom He will (1 Cor 12) and in the last days God pours out His Spirit upon all flesh. (Joel 2). We believe that the local church is a body of believes who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer. for fellowship and sharing in the communion of Christ’s shed blood and broken body. Here we carry out the great commission to make disciples from all nations, baptizing and teaching them whatsoever Christ commanded.
- We believe in Team Ministry as the Scriptures as given us examples (Romans 16).That denying ungodliness and worldy lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world (Titus 2:11, 1 Peter 2:22).
- We believe in the Authority of the Local Church, that God has given the pattern for the local church in the New Testament where ruling Elders serve under the Lordship of Christ to equip the (believers) saints, for the work of the ministry. The congregation should obey those who have the rule over them and submit themselves to the teaching of Christ, because these Elders are ones which watch for their souls as God’s appointed leaders who must give an account to God.
- That the second coming of Christ is personal, visible and increasingly imminent (Mat 24, Acts 1:11, 3:19- 21, Phil 3:20) at which time the true Church shall be caught away with Him into the heavens, before the great tribulation (Isaiah 26:20, Rev 4:1). The believers will be raised to reign with Christ for a thousand years and then afier a brief period the final judgement of God will come. Those names not written in the book of life will be cast in the lake of fire and eternal torment that was prepared for Satan and his demons. We believe in a literal heaven and a burning hell. (Mat 25:21, Rev 20:7-15, 21:1-7, 20:15, 21:8).
